*HevyGPT does not work on the Android ChatGPT app. If you are on Android, use the web version of ChatGPT to import workout plans into your Hevy profile. We’ve outlined the process step by step below.

What is HevyGPT?

HevyGPT is a custom GPT connected to Hevy. It lets you generate tailored workout programs from ChatGPT prompts and import them into your Hevy profile in seconds.

How to Use HevyGPT on iOS (Step-by-Step)

1. Have Hevy and the ChatGPT Apps Installed

Log in to your Hevy app and ChatGPT accounts. You don’t need Hevy Pro to use this feature, but you won’t be able to import a training plan from ChatGPT if it includes more than four routines (or unique workouts).

2. Enable the ChatGPT Integration

Open Hevy and navigate to Profile > Settings (gear icon on the top right) > Integrations. Tap ‘Connect,’ and you’ll be taken to ChatGPT.

3. Write a Prompt

Explain what type of program you want and be as detailed as you’d like. You can also use one of the pre-written prompts.

4. Save the Program to Hevy

If you’re happy with the program, ask ChatGPT to save it to your Hevy profile.

(You may be asked to log into hevy.com with your Hevy app credentials.)

Once done, ChatGPT will let you know:

5. Open Hevy and Start Training

Navigate to the Workout tab and find your new program in a separate folder:

You may need to pull down to refresh or close and reopen Hevy if you don’t see the new folder right away.

You can read more about logging Hevy workouts (and related features), tracking your progress, and sharing your training achievements with friends.

HevyGPT on Desktop (The Only Option on Android)

You can also complete the above process on desktop with only the Hevy app installed on your phone.

Open HevyGPT and prompt it to create a workout plan for you.

Ask it to save the program to Hevy.

You will be asked to grant ChatGPT access to your Hevy app account.

Then confirm the workout program import and wait a bit while the process completes.

Open the app, navigate to the Workout tab, and find your new folder with the workouts, ready to be logged.

WORK OUT. TRACK PROGRESS. SOCIALIZE.

Whether you’re a regular person, competitive bodybuilder, or athlete, Hevy allows you to log sessions, track progress, and socialize.

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

Yes, you can use the ChatGPT integration for free. However, you’re limited to four routines. If you generate a plan with more than four unique workouts in ChatGPT, you won’t be able to import it to your library.
No, a free ChatGPT account also works.
Absolutely. You can add any relevant information to your ChatGPT prompts to get the most tailored workout plans. So long as you have an active integration, ChatGPT will be able to analyze your training history to recommend workouts with load recommendations and progression suggestions.
You can write detailed prompts and ask ChatGPT for training plans that account for existing injuries, exercises you like or dislike, available equipment, goals, preferred workout duration, weekly training frequency, warm-up sets, and more.
Yes, the workouts created by ChatGPT get saved as routines in your Hevy profile. You can make unlimited changes through the ‘Edit Routine’ option or while logging a live workout.
